Air India gets go ahead for sale of 5 Boeing aircraft to Etihad

The plan for sale of these planes was cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
NEW DELHI: Air India can now go ahead with the sale of its five long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft to Etihad Airways, with the government giving its nod to the deal today.

The proposal for the sale of these wide-body planes, part of the national carrier's turnaround plan, was cleared at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, official sources said.
